Makrinitsa

Makrinitsa village Pelion : The visitors who will do the licking to visit Makrinitsa will be surprised by its unique beauty and will never want to leave this dreamy place. The village of Makrinista is a pure jewel hanging on the slope of the green mountain. It is divided into two settlements, Koukourava and Moutsara, just 500m from each other.

Makrinitsa is known as the  noble village , because it was inhabited mainly by rich people. This is the reason why most of the houses in Makrinitsa are mansions, very richly decorated. The village is also known as the balcony of Pelion due to its amazing view due to its location (630m above the sea).

The houses have decorated high walls and windows, works of local artists. All the climbing roads of Makrinitsa are paved and lead to a beautiful large square, shaded by tall plane trees. The square has cafes, a wonderful church dedicated to Agios Ioannis the Forerunner and a carved marble fountain, built around 1809 and whose crystal clear waters are called Immortal Water.

The whole place offers peace, natural beauty and serenity. In Makrinitsa, the visitor can visit many beautiful churches and basilicas, as well as the Folklore Museum which has a wonderful collection of rare objects and souvenirs.

Pelion Afissos

Afissos Pelion: Afissos is a small and beautiful summer resort, about 25 km from Volos. It is located geographically on the south side of Pelion, built amphitheatrically overlooking the Pagasitic Gulf. This fishing village has developed a bit in recent years with wonderful taverns in the port and family hotels, but it has not lost its traditional charm at all.

Surrounded by lush greenery, Afissos is a nice family place. Mythology says that Jason and the Argonauts stopped there for water before embarking on their long voyage to Collis. The area around Afissos has many sandy beaches, partly organized and partly isolated, such as Kallifteri, Lagoudi, Ambovos. Afisos is also a good base for excursions on the south side of Pelion.

Agia Kyriaki

Agia Kyriaki is the southernmost village of the Pelion peninsula. It is located few km from Trikeri and it is actually a small fishing village. Along the port, there are some fishing taverns and cafeterias to enjoy the view to the Aegean Sea. Many boats and yachts moor there in summer, while the region provides relaxing coves to swim.

On a rocky hill looking like an island, Trikeri is the last village of the peninsula still having a developed maritime tradition. The village has many amazingly beautiful old mansions owned by captains (Vryniotis, Koutmanis, Koupourelou and others), the church of Agios Athanassios (1799), the church of Agioi Anargyroi (19th century) and the 18th century church of Agia Triada, built by the devoted inhabitants, which contains a gold-plated carved wooden iconostasis and a despotic throne.
